Stay in Old Town or Lapad?

We are a young couple booking our first trip to Dubrovnik.

We are looking to do more sightseeing and trips rather than a beach holiday, but do obviously still want some beach time and watersports.

We prefer restaurants and bars in the evening rather than clubs.

We have found a nice apartment (dora apartments) in Old Town, but sure whether to stay within the city walls or in Lapad which sounds more popular?

I don%26#39;t think Lapad is more popular. I would look for something right outside of the walls, though being in the Old Town is ok too. To me the perfect place would be somewhere that I could wake up, get on the terrace of the apartment, and gaze out at the Old Town walls.

Lapad possibly seems more popular as that is where most of the hotels are situated.

The big advantage of staying in, or very close to the old town, is that it is a beatiful and atmospheric place to spend your evenings. There is a wide selection of restaurants.

For a couple of lazy beach days you can catch the ferry to the small island opposite (about 10 minutes) or down the coast to Cavtat

Thank you both for your replies.

I like the sound of having a terrace and as space is limited in Old Town can you recommend any apartments in or out just outside the city walls?

A couple come to mind...Dubrovnik Bed and Breakfast and Jinx and Jinxy apartment.

Near Old Town. There is nothing like have a coffie at 7 am at the old market at old town, or coffie after the beach. check for ankora apartments on google.
