We are four adults and want to spend a week in July in Croatia, near the sea, but with a bit of heritage. Never been before so would like some idea of a good central base where we can have some sea, sun and history with good food. Any ideas on companies to book a villa (with pool?) too would be great.

In September of 2007 our group of 4 adults enjoyed a wonderful stay on the island of Korchla. Known for it%26#39;s walled city and as the birth place of Marco Polo, this exquisite island offers beach activities and the unique cultural locations. We stayed in a lovely apartment within walking distance of the city that offered amazing views of the Adriatic from a truely beautiful patio deck. Our most gracious hosts, Slobodan and Andelka Vranjes, were extremely generous with their time and hospitality. The experiences in Korcula at the the Vranjes%26#39; apartments remain one of our most memorable of Croatia and among the best of all our European trips. I think Korcula is an excellent suggestion. It has the history, culture and the sea. Maybe fly into Dubrovnik, spend some time there and move onto Korcula.

with a pool might be a bit of a problem on Korcula, but it just so happens that my friend recently completed building her place on Korcula and it%26#39;s with a pool. You can see pics of the place at www.novasol.com house number cds120. I%26#39;ve been there and have to say that its better than 95% of the accommodations you are going to find on Korcula. The only down side is that it%26#39;s in Lumbarda, a good 10 km to the town of Korcula, which is where most of the heritage you are looking for can be found. There is a 10min max walk to the bus stop, which goes several times daily to korcula and back. If you rented a , the distance would not be a problem. Just tell the owner her LA buddy said hi. Sunchaser - have gone onto website but cant locate cds120. Can you help as very interested in this location especially with a pool.
