white water rafting the Cetina river

We will be in Croatia in June and are looking for a guide company to take us on a day rafting trip down the Cetina river. Can anyone recommend a company; we don%26#39;t need hotel, just a day trip on the river. We will probably stay around Makarska. we would also welcome any recommendations on towns and places not to miss between Dubrovnik and Split. We will have a car and have left 3 days open to wander.

I would suggest going out to one of the islands if you have some time...get out to Bol on Brac or Hvar. Also a neat day trip would be to Mostar between Dubrovnik and Split.

As for places not to be missed, I suggest you Imotski, a little town in the hills, less than 1 hour drive from Makarska. It%26#39;s a non touristic, off the beaten path kind of destination, and has some great lakes to be seen.

Thank you so much for the info; I checked out the rafting info and that looks like exactly what we need. I also looked at your pics; wow, it is beautiful. We may not return to the USA, but stay in Croatia forever. Anywhere else (non tourist, small town) not to be missed.

Hey, you are welcome

Yes, Imotski is really beautiful rocky place and is overlooked by tourists – too bad, it%26#39;s a nice escape from Makarska.

Omis where the rafting agency is situated is a great little town too.

Interesting stuff when in Makarska is taking a hike up Biokovo mountain – if the day is clear the view over coastline and islands from up there is breathtaking.

Not sure if you plan to go to Split, a 10 min drive from there is Klis medieval fortress (on the hill overlooking Split). Take a look here:

On your way to Dubrovnik be sure to stop by in Ston, a cute town with some serious defensive walls.

Ston is the beginning of Peljesac peninsula - lot of small family wineries, little villages, wind surfing in Viganj - all easily reachable from Ston.

Also south of Makarska take a little detour toward Metkovic, a town on Neretva river only 15 km off the coast. Right next to it is Vid, a tiny village with a small museum exhibiting some spectacular ancient Roman sculptures.
