First time in Croatia - seeking guidance

I will be traveling to Croatia this summer. I will be flying into Split and taking a catamaran to Hvar Town. I would appreciate advice on the following:

1. What is the best way (easy, reasonable) to travel to Split Harbour from the airport - bus? Taxi? Private driver?

2. Upon arriving to Split Harbour, is it easy to find/purchase catamaran ticket? Can I purchase ticket in advance or do I have to wait to purchase until day of, upon arrival to Harbour?

3. Has anyone on this listserv stayed at the Adriana Hvar Marina Hotel? That is where I will be staying. Once I arrive in Hvar Town, is the hotel in walking distance from the ferry terminal or do I need to take a bus or taxi to the hotel? Is it easy to find such transportation?

Any other advice/suggestions anyone has to offer is greatly appreciated!!

We went from Split harbor to the airport via taxi. It is a pretty long ride. Luckily we met some Norwiegans who also were going to the airport and we split the taxi with them. I%26#39;m sure there will be other people going to the harbor, maybe you could split a taxi with them? I don%26#39;t like buses myself so we were going to take a taxi either way. It wasn%26#39;t super expensive, maybe 40-60 USD if I am remembering right.

Hvar is awesome and you%26#39;ll love it. There is a restaurant at the end of the row of them on the pier that all the exursion boats sit at and the ferries drop you off at. They have all their fish out to show you and cook it on a grill right there where you can see it. They had a swordfish night while we were there and it was one of the best meals we had on our trip, I%26#39;d highly recommend it. Also if you like clubs there is a club in the middle of a castle type place, we had a tough time getting to it but it was awesome, big outdoor club with lots of different little rooms and pools etc.

Here was the swordfish we ate:

How long are you in Hvar? We did day trips to Bol, Blue Cave/Komiza (highly recommend), and water taxi%26#39;d to Palmanzana on Pakleni Islands, which was cool too.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I%26#39;d love to help a fellow Midwesterner that is going to Croatia...there aren%26#39;t a lot of us!

There%26#39;s airport bus from airport to harbor for 30 kn (5 EUR). Taxi is very expensive, so it%26#39;s better with bus.

Yes, take the airport bus. It drops you right at the harbor. People will line up out front of the airport for it.

If you are not directly heading to Hvar, store your luggage at the garderoba and see Diocletian%26#39;s palace.

You can check catamaran schedules at

http://www.jadrolinija.hr

Catamarans go to Hvar Grad and ferries go to Stari Grad, then buses go to Hvar Grad.

Just purchase it at a kiosk or in the large terminal building upon arrival.

As best as I can tell, the hotel is easily walking distance. If you have a lot of luggage, ask them to collect you.

Check out the map here:

You will get off the ferry on the right side, walk around to the left side. The views should be great!
