coastal drive

I will be driving from zadar to dubrovnik on 31st may 08. I think we might take the coastal route. Would anybody recommend sights to see en route, or any good restaurants worth a stopover for lunch etc ? Also, what sort of time should this journey take without stops on the coastal route ? thank you.

If you drive on fast road nothing to see, maybe Np Krka,

Krka National park and Sibenik. Stop in Pelegrini near rthe cathedral in Sibenik for lunch. Also stop in Trogir and even Split may be good. If going without stopping, allow at least 5 hours.

if you want the scenic route and dont mind 4hrs off the highway, the best part of the Jadranski Magistral (Adriatic Coast Road), in my opinion, is between Omis and Dubrovnik. Unfortunately, the coastal development around Split has turned the beautiful coastline into a cement landscape. My advice would be to take the highway from Zadar heading south, get off at the Sentanovac offramp and head for the Makarska Riviera (Zadvarje to Gornja Brela to Dupci to Brela). Depending on the road conditions and how fast you drive, expect the drive on the highway from Zadar to where you get off the highway to take about 1-1.5hrs, then about 3.5hrs from Brela to Dubrovnik. Just make sure you have a map with you so you dont get lost and find yourself somewhere in Bosnia. With regard to some good restaurants, i made some suggestions in another post, so just do a search for it.

Primosten and Trogir are nice places to make a stop at.
