Rose of Dubrovnik properties

Planning on renting an apartment, Iva from the Rose of Dubrovnik group this coming May. Wondering if anyone has insight into their properties and their overall business dealings. Aside from that the photos they use on their site are beyond good and just hoping that they are represenative of the actual properties.

Hi: Our group of five people rented the Apartment Rhapsodie from Rose of Dubrovnik in September. It was all the pictures said and more. It was right outside the Ploce gate, maybe about 20 steps up from the street with a large balcony overlooking the sea and the old town. That is where I had my coffee every morning.

The apartment had two bedrooms--one with a double bed, one with twin beds, and a nice fold out sofa in the living room where I slept. The furnishings were lovely and the kitchen was updated and had everything. There was even a formal dining room. There was no parking but we turned in our rental car when we arrived in Dubrovnik.

I wish I was back there right now.

Thanks Acme, we are looking forward to our trip to Dubrovnik and Apartment Iva. We thuought about Raphsodie (sp?) also but think it was booked. Great to hear that the pictures tell the real story because they were sure nice. Any favorite restaurants you can reccomend?

WC: Iva looks like a nice big place. You may want to inquire about the number of steps from the street if that is an issue. We specifically needed a place close to Old City without a huge number of steps to climb which is why the Rhapsodie worked out so well for our group. We also asked for a coffee machine in the kitchen which Rose gladly furnished. If you buy any coffee in the grocery store get Bar Caffe brand which is Slovenian--very good packaged coffee. We spent a week in Slovenia before Croatia. Loved Slovenia also.

I don%26#39;t remember the names of Dubrovnik places where we ate but had lots of good grilled calamari and mussels and lots of good cappucinos and gelatos at outdoor cafes.

We even got to experience Croatian socialized medicine when one of my brothers developed conjunctivitis in one eye. He was seen one night by doc in the Dobrovnik Hospital emergency room (no charge and no wait--2 minute visit)--then to the pharmacy to get antibiotic eyedrops and ointment for a total cost of $8 USD. We were amazed.

Have a wonderful trip!

Thanks acme; We haven%26#39;t checked out the steps situation but will inquire now, lugging suitcases up many flights can be a hassle, as I fiund out in Venice a few years back. We did requst a coffe maker and were assured one would better available. Will take your advice on getting Bar Caffe, as we do love European coffee. Is it stong like Turkish coffee? Was there a grocery store near by? Iva has a summer kitchen on the terrace a would like to cook something on the grill, as we did last year in Nice. Calamari, mussels and cappuchino are are favorites also and will definately seek them out. Glad to hear that you a a good experience with the Croatia health system. We experienced medical help, the Socialized way in both China and Malaysia and it was very good on both occasions, even had doctors come to our apartment and the cost was un-believabily low.
