hotel marco polo

has anyone stayed here?

|||

I have not stayed at the Marco Polo as I live here but this is the only hotel in Korcula that has been refurbished for years. They spent a lot of money last year on improvements etc so now it is the best hotel in Korcula !! It is within easy walking distance - just a few minutes to the centre of town and although I have not been inside looks nice from outside with quite a few facilities etc.

Have a nice trip

thanks, can you tell me if there is a lot to do in Korcula, is it worth spending a few nights?

I would say that to see a lot in Korcula you would need to spend a few nights - this is of course depends when you plan to come over. During late June, July %26amp; August there is lots going on and more water taxis etc to various parts of Korcula. You could also take the local bus to the end of Korcula - Vela Luka - this way you would pass through and see lots of small villages and towns. Also you could take a local bus taking you to the other side of the island to Račice also going through small towns and villages. The local buses run very regular and are inexpensive.

On Thursdays they have the Morseka sword dancing but also a lot of local bars and cafe have live music every night which is free. There are also outside music concerts on various nights . Just going through the main town and old town of Korcula to see everything takes around 2 days as there are so many small streets with different shops, restaurants and cafes plus art galleries, museums, churches etc. There is also a Disco in the old town which is soundproofed - I have lived here over 3 years and I am still finding places on the Island I have not visited before !!

Have a good trip !

thanks can you tell me if its easy to find parking

|||

I am sure the Hotel Marco Polo has it%26#39;s own parking but cannot be positive on this - that is if you are still planning to stay there - otherwise parking is hard to get from May onwards through to September and you have to pay per hour in main car parks. We park our car on the outskirts of town and walk in from about 5 minutes away to avoid the problem.

If you decide to rent an apartment instead then some have private parking available for guests. There is no parking at all in %26quot;old town%26quot; as this is enclosed within walls and is for pedestrians only.

Hope this helps - have a good trip
