transportation options between Zagreb and Karlovac

I am planning to travel to Karlovac from Zagreb for a day trip. Any recommendations for where to rent a car for a day? I will need a car for 5 people. I will be staying at the Hotel International in Zagreb. Also, any recommendations for traveling from Zagreb to Karlovac without a car...train or bus?

Thanks

Bus or train, either will be fine. Perhaps train would be handier since the central railway station is only 10 min walk from International hotel. Buses are also frequent and fast.

My experience renting cars in cro is that national rent a car is the cheapest. Since it%26#39;s a short trip from zagreb to karlovac, either the train or bus is fine. But since the train has standing room and a bathroom available for unexpected situations, i would recommend that over the bus.

Catch the train is easy, 15 minute walk to City or taxi

Then walk into and around the city through the small streets with in some places shanty houses ready to fall down

Visit the wooden bride ascross the river

Nice centre to have a tea or coffee outside

there is a bar/cafe in the centre with all unusal bits on display even a replica of the Statue of Liberty and a famous motorcycle rider and his bike.

Train ride about 45 minutes

by car from centre of zagreb well sign posted Karlovac 1 hour 15 mins

one way toll on motorway 16 kuna as at march 2008

park meters used in Karlovac but cheap

tourist office in Centre

small hotel in Karlovac Hotel Karlstadt good price very good buffet breakfast

If you want to see someting different and i mean different hire a car and drive to Sisak on the old road once past Zagreb airport you start to see wooden houses over 300 years old on the old road you will be amazed and it will blow your mind away do not be afraid to stop and take photos residents are very helpful once in Sisak go for a meal at Restuarant Cocktail looks expensive but it not

full blown three course meal with drink and coffee 12british pounds nice little town with a castle in centre, are you into steam trains

I have been travelling around Croatia and Bosnia in hire car since 1996 its great not one problem
