hiring a car or public transport - help

Hi, we are spending two days in Trogir, three days in markarska, two days in Korcula and 7 days in dubrovonik, would you recommend hiring a car to do the travelling or would it be better to use local transport?

thanks

As a car is a liability in Dubrovnik and Trogir (parking very difficult) I would be inclined to use public transport. Buses to Trogir and Makarska then ferry from Drvenik to Korcula and ferry from Korcula to Dubrovnik. Shout if you can not find timetables.

thanks, I am going through an agent and they have suggested hiring a car so that we can go to the Krka national park and travel as far a Dubrononik, we were going to drop the car off in Dubrovonik, if we have parking in the hotel in Trogir would that make a difference?

someone on the site had said that the bus journey to Dubrovonik was an ordeal in the summer

Perhaps the agent has a vested interest (commission) in you renting a car. I have never had a problem on the buses or ferries but maybe I have been lucky. In the winter months I rent a car as I like to be able to have a bit a shelter and get around more.
