croatia hol help

hi there,

wondering if anyone can help - please! I was planning a summer holiday for me and my boyfriend to Croatia this year. We have all the usual constraints of wanting something amazing but are on a budget and are limited to travelling in August (yes, i know!) There%26#39;s more...

I want to be close to the sea as poss whilst the other half needs %26#39;things to do%26#39;, ideally we would prefer no big hotels.

I was originally looking at Brela but think its gonna be awkward to get to and then thought ciovo near trogir as that had best of both worlds - can anyone tell me if im along the right lines? or recommend anywhere else i may have missed?

Thanks

Brela or Makarska doesnt sound like a bad initial idea, depending on which airport you arrive to in Croatia. Where ever you go though, transport might be a hurdle. I%26#39;m assuming you are coming into Split (a route supported by low cost carriers EasyJet and GermanWings from the UK), so you would most likely have to take two buses- a 45min one from the airport to the marina (which is next to the bus and train stations) and a 3hr one from the bus station in Split to Brela. You might also look staying in Vodice, an active summer destination right next to Sibenik (you%26#39;d probably have to take two buses there as well, but im not as familiar with getting around in northern dalmatia as i am with southern dalmatia). If you hit Vodice, you can arrive in Zadar using a low cost carrier (Ryan Air) or in Split (Vodice is roughly midpoint between Split and Zadar). Depending on how long you are staying (those who have private accommodations here prefer guests who stay longer than simply a couple of days), it shouldnt be difficult to find relatively cheap private accommodations within 5 min walking of the beach.

Thanks for that advice - the buses sound like a bit of a nightmare but im sure i can manage! i%26#39;ll have a look at Vodice now.

Thanks again

I think Ciovo near Trogir sounds great. You can always take a day trip to Split from there. It is very very close to the Split airport too. I think its a great idea!
