Driving from zadar to zagreb. Leaving the next morning early to amsterdam. Should we stay in town or by the airport? We will have to return car also.
Any ideas?

Can you return the car at the airport? If so, I would just stay in Zagreb somewhere and drive to the airport early enough to return the car. We stayed at Hotel Central and it was a nice location and nothing special, but nice enough.

another centrally located place to stay at (2 tram stops or less than 10min walk from the main square), and relatively cheap compared to all else in zg is Hotel Ilica (http://www.hotel-ilica.hr).
