Hotel Zagreb

Hello all,

I am comming to Zagreb for New Year%26#39;s Eve, and I am thinking of staying at Hotel Zagreb (since I am on a budget) .... so please can anyone please tell me what kind of hotel is this, is it too terrible? and what is the neighbourhood like.

It is located on

Bundek bb, Zagreb 10000, Croatia

Also, is there public transportation from the airport to the city centre? Thanks!!!

It’s more like a motel. The location is not bad, it is right next to Bundek park, which is OK, but don’t think it will be warm weather to walk around.

I suggest you to consider short time apartment rental, may be even cheaper than this Zagreb Hotel and lot of them are located in the city center. Just be sure to reserve in time.

Options here (some have websites, check%26#39;em out)

There is a bus (Croatia bus or Pleso prijevoz logo on it) that takes you from the airport to the Zagreb central bus station. They meet all arrivals and are parked right in front of the airport building (cant miss it, the airport is tiny). Think it costs 35 kuna one way.

Thank you so much!

Is there public transportation stations close to Zabreb hotel?

And how long it will take me to walk from this hotel Zagreb to the central square where the New Year%26#39;s celebration will take place?

I will check the apartments also

|||

It will take 30+ min to walk to the main, Jelacic Square. Not so handy since you need to walk accross the brigde. Yes you can take a bus directly to the center (stops in front of the Railway station). Tram is not far but it detours... Of course there is always taxi.

Christmas season in Zagreb is about hanging out in downtown area with the outdoor stalls, cafes, decorations, street performers, beer house on the main square etc. = check out the appartments :)

I checked the apartments and unfortunately most of them don%26#39;t have web-sites :(. But I found one I liked, it is on street Jadranska 9, which is not exactly in the downtown but the walk from there should be better than the walk from Hotel Zagreb. And it is really cheap (17EUR per night)

I wanted to ask you one additional question. What are the best shopping sites in Zagreb? Which are the biggest malls?

Thanks!

Shopping – click:

City Center One and King Cross are OK - are in the suburbs (city buses go there).

Actually the hottest (newest) mall (Avenue Mall) is right next to Hotel Zagreb. But is really easily reachable either by tram or bus from the city centre so don’t let it drag you away.

Centar Kaptol, Branimir, both Importanne’s are in the center, and are not that large.

Accommodation:

Jadranska is OK but a bit up the hill (not too much, don’t worry).

Check out these, they are in the center, with very good price (200 - 250kn for single stay – not sure if youre gonna be on your own), mind that if you stay more days, price could get lower.

And this is a reliable private (en suite) rooms and studios renting agency – they might have something cheap and centrally located.

Thank you zagrebresident for all your help!!

I was finally able to get a room at The Doremiza. I know it is not qute central but no rooms were available anywhere closer for less than 35 EUR!! and at Doremiza I will be paying 17EUR per night :) .... but I see on the map it is quite far from the center. Can you please advise me as to how far it is (how many min) by bus/tramp? Also is it in a safe neighbourhod? ... and what do you think of the location? :) I emailed also the places that you explicitly suggested but no luck (either no room available or no reply yet) :(

|||

well, it%26#39;s not in the centre, but it%26#39;s not far away either..

you have like 15min with tram (#12 drives you directly to the main square)..

the neighbourghood is ok, but you%26#39;ll probably won%26#39;t be there besides sleeping..cause there is really nothing to see there..

|||

ok, doesn%26#39;t sound too bad. And is there a tram going from the main train station to this Hostel? and how much does the tram cost in Zagreb?

Thanksssss

|||

yeah, take a tram #9 at the main train station and it also goes direcly to your little home :)

and tram ticket costs 8kn (if you buy it in the tram, or 6.5 if you buy t on kiosk)..but usualyy, we don%26#39;t pay for it here :p

|||

wow 8 kn? that is like 1 EUR. That is so expensive !!!

Thanks for the tip about not paying :) maybe I should do that :) but than I would risk getting deported over 1 EUR :)))
