We are planning to stay in Okrug Gornji in August and have read various reports of bad traffic jams. We don%26#39;t know whether to hire a car for the whole week or to rely on public transport? We need to travel from the airport and also visit Trogir, Split, Rocognica and the Krka National park as well as lazy days around Okrug itself, when I guess we wouldn%26#39;t need a car at all. We understand that we can catch a bus to these places from Trogir but how do we get from Okrug to Trogir? We don%26#39;t particularly want to walk the 4km at the start and end of every trip. Is there a regular boat service from Okrug to Trogir that we could use? If we decide to hire a car for part of the week to visit some of the far flung places is the only option to get a taxi back to the airport to hire one or is there an alternative? Are we going to be dogged by traffic jams every time we want to leave Ciovo? Lots of questions! I hope someone can help?

Hi,
I would rent a car on AP; there is %26quot;nothing%26quot; to see in Okrug; it is very small village full of %26quot;houses to rent%26quot;, the beach called %26quot;Copacabana%26quot;, a couple of bars and supermarkets... as regards traffic jam, you%26#39;re right - sometimes it%26#39;s bad, but if you avoid to go to Trogir from 6-8PM, you%26#39;ll be just alright; don%26#39;t count on public transport, especially from Okrug to Trogir - time tables are very %26quot;strange%26quot; ;-) I%26#39;ve never heard about the %26quot;regular boat service%26quot; to Trogir, and I don%26#39;t think there is one...
if you need anything else, just ask
bye

I find the buses excellent around Trogir - they have been on time every time I have used them, give or take a minute. In the summer the buses run from Trogir bus station to Okrug Gornji/Okrug Donji (it%26#39;s upper and lower Okrug) until 10.30 pm.
The only problem would be getting into Trogir to go on any trips.
However, car hire is cheap in Croatia in my opinion - I use www.travelsupermarket.com and see who comes up cheapest. Thus, even if you don%26#39;t a car every day, you wouldn%26#39;t really be wasting money.

August is the time of high season and there is traffic jams in some hours from Trogir to Okrug Gornji- you have to avoid to drive especially around 14:00 and around 19:00
- if you want to see other places rent a car
- you don%26#39;t need to get taxi back to the airport for rent a car- it is possible to arrange delivery of car to your apartment
- for your information Okrug Gornji - airport taxi is cca. 150 kuna for one way
- to reach out Trogir without car my advice is take a regular boat line which is very frequent every half hour from the main beach %26quot;Copacabana%26quot; to the Trogir Riva
- another option is bus line from Okrug Gornji
If you have any other question you can ask me because my favorite destination for summer holidays is Ciovo area and village Okrug Gornji

Hi we are going to Ciovo in August also and despite hearing that the traffic is bad have hired a car from Economy car hire ltd. Extreamly cheap about £400 for fortnight free 2nd driver and no excess!
I was worried adout the traffic but we plan to try to travel on to the mainland very early in the morning and stay away until late on the days we want to go sight seeing. Not sure if this helps you out or not, we haven%26#39;t been before.
