Transportation from Varazdin to Trakoscan - Zagreb

We would like to visit both Varazdin and Trakoscan in one day by public transportation. If there were a tour to do both in one day we would take it. So, now we are planning to take the bus to Varazdin. We would like to know if there is a bus, or other transportation, to Trakoscan from Varazdin. Then is there a bus or train from Trakoscan to Zagreb. (Have to get back to Zagreb.) If there is no bus or train from Varazdin to Trakoscan, is there a taxi. I believe it is about 40 km. I guess the most important question is: Can we do both on the same day at a slow pace. Time does not permit to do one on each day. If anyone has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Hmm... tough question. I don%26#39;t really think you can do both on the same day. especially not aa slow pace. Varazdin is not such a small town, you%26#39;d need time to travel to Trakoscan I highly doubt there is a bus or rail from Varazdin for Trakoscan and, while taxi might be available, it%26#39;s probably very expensive. I%26#39;m also not sure that there is some public transport from Trakoscan to Zagreb. You can send Trakoscan castle on dvor@trakoscan.hr and maybe they%26#39;ll have some information about public transport for you. They also have a web-site. www.trakoscan.hr .

So, to conclude, even if you%26#39;d be able to do both in one day, public transport might prove impossible to find or impractical at best. Varazdin is a lovely day trip destination, you%26#39;d be able to spend a day there easily. If you%26#39;re looking for something else, I can recommend Ljubljana (the capital of Slovenia), which is a wonderful city, with a lot of rail and bus links with Zagreb and less than 100mi away.

djedradovan - Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. It looks like we will not be visiting Trakoscan.

We are not looking for additional places to visit. We only have three days in Zagreb, and there are so many places I would love to visit, and there just is not enough time. On the fourth day we will be going to Plitvice National Park and then on to Split, both by bus. Since we do not want to stay overnight at Plitvice, it is going to be a very long day.
