Trying to plan a 4 day trip to Croatia, will probably only visit 1 city. thinking of somewhere to relax, go to the beach, good meals. Relaxing but with a little nightlife. A group of 4-6 friends. not too touristy, more of a %26quot;locals%26quot; area.
Or, if a more traditional sightseeing trip is in order, then where is the 1 city we should visit?

Fly into Split and get out to one of the nearby islands--- look into Brac or Hvar. That would be my suggestion. Or if you want to stay on the mainland, look into Trogir, or maybe even Zadar. Not sure of the beaches near Zadar though?

4 days - I would go to Dubrovnik and then take a couple of day trips to Lopud, Mljet, or Korcula. Anyone who has never been there should go to Dubrovnik.

americroat gave you the rightadvice. Dubrovnik is simply a must when in Croatia for the first time. Also, nightlife depends on the time of the year... Summers (July, August) are excellent on the coast and rest of the year is better in Zagreb and Rijeka
