Totally beewildered!

Two of us are looking to do our summer holiday in croatia and know nothing about it! We%26#39;re late 50s but like a bit of life as well as history, nature restaurants etc. Having read numerous brochures and lots of posts here,Im just as confused as before I started! We don%26#39;t really like man -made purpose built resorts, but we do like the feel of a holiday place, if that%26#39;s not too contradictory! How easy is it to get around the islands if we stay in Dubrovnik? We%26#39;re probably talking about 2 weeks, or is that too long?

2 weeks is not too long wherewer you go in Croatia.

From Dubrovnik - Korcula island, Mljet island National Park, sea kayak in the Elaphites, wines and oysters of Peljesac peninsula . Then hop to Bosnia to visit Medjugorje pilgrimage, Mostar for the architecture. Or spend a day in Kotor, Montenegro... Right here you have over a week of stay and we didn%26#39;t even touch the day trips in the area!

To visit other islands, it would be best to move to Split and then to plan the rest but never stay less than 2 days on any of the middle Dalmatian islands since they are worlds on their own and well worth exploring

Great post, Morlaque. I would definitely take Dubrovnik. Stay either in Dubrovnik or Cavtat (a site favorite for many), go to Mostar for a day...or Kotor...and spend time in Korcula. Maybe take the northern route as far as Split to see Diocletian%26#39;s Palace...and maybe Trogir....

As you can see I keep adding things to your possibilities!!!

I have been to Croatia for 2 weeks at a time...on 4 different trips...and never left the country feeling like I was there remotely long enough!

It will likely have the same effect on you!!!

I think you will love Korcula!!!!

First of all I think that two weeks should be the minimum, but I am probably biased. I would like to spend three weeks to a month sometime. I agree with the previous posts. First of all Dubrovnik is a must. To me this is the ultimate place to go in Croatia. If possible spend a good four to five nights here and maybe venture out to do some day trips.....as mentioned before, Mostar is a great day trip. Mostar was quite the eye opener and a great cultural experience.

After Dubrovnik I would suggest that you head out to the islands. My first pick would be to go to Korcula. I was there for the first time last summer and absolutely fell in love with the place. This will definitely be a destination for me in my future trips to Croatia. It was such a serene and beautiful place.

After Korcula I would try to get to the island of Brac and the city of Bol. A great beach, Zlatni Rat, and just a nice place to stay. From there maybe head to another island----Hvar, Vis?

I think that Split is a good option back on the mainland for at least one night. The Hotel Peristil is a great place to stay right within the walls of Diocletians Palace.

From Split I would head to Plitvice, where you can get your nature fill at this great National Park and from there I would suggest you go to Zagreb and fly out of there after touring this place and all its museums and churches.

I know this would entail a lot of travel, but flying into Dubrovnik and out of Zagreb would allow you to hit most of Dalmatia, Plitvice and the capital of Zagreb. Get to Croatia. You will not regret the decision!
