Rate Sights

We will be in Croatia/Slovenia/Bosnia in September of 2008 with limited time and would like advice on rating/thoughts on the following areas. We will have to prioritize as we cannot see all of these so please rank them if possible with any applicable thoughts.

A) Ljubljana

B) Zagreb

C) Plitvice

D) Dubrovnik

E) Mostar

F) Sarajevo

Are Mostar and Sarajevo safe and %26quot;recovered%26quot; enough to see?

|||

Ljubljana

Nice for few hours. nothing special

Zagreb

Two days max! Historic center, market Dolac, restaurants and museums

Plitvice

few days would be ideal but one day trip (3-5 hours) is enough

Dubrovnik

Beautiful! but the Old town is rather tiny so you may want to consider some other sights in the area. Other than that - a 5 star attraction

Mostar and sarajevo

If you are into islamic tradition, these are %26quot;must see%26quot; places. The important monuments have been restored

|||

How would you rate the places (1-6)?

|||

depends on what you want to see..all these places are nice, but each in its specific way..

|||

I can rate these

1 Plitvice, for one day

2 Dubrovnik, essential Croatia

3 Mostar, yes it is safe, an eye opener

4 Zagreb, not very interesting, the worst graffiti I have ever seen, see it all in one day.

|||

Sorry, I haven%26#39;t been to Mostar and Sarajevo, but I%26#39;m sure they%26#39;re great. I%26#39;m also sure they are safe enough for you to see.

Other four (on a rate 1-4, one being the highest)

Zagreb - 1

It is the biggest city here. Yes, there are graffiti and yes, it can be a bit uninviting at times, but I hardly think everything in Zagreb can be seen in one day. I%26#39;m not sure what the previous poster saw in Zagreb and why he didn%26#39;t he like it. It%26#39;s an OK (nothing special, though) tourist destination, but it does have some great sights and I don%26#39;t really think you can see Mirogoj, Gradec %26amp; Kaptol (the Upper City), Marshall Tito Sq, Dolac, Jelacic Sq, Zrinjevac, the Orthodox Church, Preradovic Sq (essentialy the whole center of the city) and much more in one day. Two-three days would be more appropriate.

Dubrovnik - 2

I disagree with Dubrovnik being essential Croatia... Essential Croatia has nothing to do with Dubrovnik - just like essential Tunisia has nothing to do with Djerba. Let%26#39;s be honest, it%26#39;s one large tourist resort. I understand why most people like it, but way too expensive and %26#39;fake%26#39; (there is no authenicity, the whole town just lives for tourism) for me. Yes, the old city is nice, but it%26#39;s overrun by tourists (at least in the summer). If you want to get a glimpse at the history of the Adriatic and as an entry to the exploration of the Balkans, it%26#39;s really OK, though.

Ljubljana - 2

A wonderful, however, little city. Definitely worth a day.

Plitvice - 4

It didn%26#39;t really do much for me. It%26#39;s nice with all the waterfalls and lakes and everything, but, I agree, not worth more than a few hours or a day at most.

Have a great trip!
