split hotels?

we%26#39;ll be going to croatia in june with our 2 yr old and staying mainly in bol but will be flying into split and were thinking of staying a couple of days there first. can anyone recommend a decent hotel in the old town - everything i%26#39;m reading about split makes it sound not very nice. we really wanted to go to dubrovnik as well but am worried about the bus journey with a fidgety child - has anyone done this or should we just stick with split?

thanks

Hotels in center: Park is very nice and in the quiet zone. Peristil is in the very center and Vestibul Palce would be a bit to %26quot;cold%26quot; - not for families.

Rent a car if going to Dubrovnik. That way you can stop and relax and spend an entire day traveling at your own pace. Buses in the summer - AVOID! There will probably be half a million people waiting for the same bus you do and it can get to crowded. Expect NOT to have seats available!

Morlaque is right.Park hotel is nice just 1 minutes walk from sandy city beach Bacvice /bachvice /,and there is really nice in morning till 1 00 hours,after that is hot but you can rest in the room in afternoon and then 15 minutes walk to the old city.Good suggestion from Morlaque

Peristil has an excellent location but is pretty expensive. It a great place to stay though!!

|||

thanks everyone. peristil looks great but it also looks very expensive. can anyone recommend anything a bit cheaper but still in the centre?

thanks

What is good price for you,I mean how much you wanmt to spent for hotel than I will give you right sugestion what you can expect because I been working as recepcionist and now I am tourist guide

|||

You should try hotel Globo. Close to the old town and I believe a bit less expensive than Peristil

|||

hotel globo is actually more expensive! we don%26#39;t really want to spend more than 100 euro a night. i can%26#39;t believe how expensive split is for a decent hotel!

|||

you would have to understand that Croatia is not quite cheap! Maybe you should try outskirts of Split and go to Trogir - or google Hotel Viktorija.

I was just in Split and Zadar....I could not find a decent hotel under 80 Euro a night (around $120 US)....

Croatia is NOT cheap!
