Honeymoon in Croatia - August 2008

Dear friends, my fiance and I are very excited to be honeymooning in Croatia this August. We have 10 days. We are flying into Dubrovnik on August 5 and departing Zagreb on August 15. I%26#39;m looking for a suggested itinerary. We%26#39;d like to spend at least 3 nights in Dubrovnik (with a day trip to Medjugorje included). Then perhaps a night or two in Hvar and Korcula before making our way North to Zagreb. Since we%26#39;re departing from Zagreb, we definitely need to see Plitvice Lakes. Could anyone suggest a good itinerary after our initial stay in Dubrovnik? How about transportation options (bus, car rental, etc.) We%26#39;re not the %26quot;relaxing%26quot; type so we%26#39;re fine with a bit of an aggressive schedule in order to see as much of the beautiful country! Thank you to all for your thoughts.

This would be my suggestion.... the three nights in Dubrovnik with one of those days being a day trip to Medjugorje and Mostar if at all possible. I would then get to Korcula for a couple of nights, its such a nice, quiet, romantic place. Then off to Hvar for two nights if you can arrange the transportation. That would leave three nights..I would get to Zadar to break up your trip a bit, spend one night there, then off to Plitvice to spend a night there and then spend your last day and night in Zagreb.

I think getting a car would be a great idea. The drive is beautiful and you can go at your own pace and it will allow you to explore the islands a little on your own. I know you could rely on public transport, but if you can afford the car, then get the car.
