London to Split, Croatia - Where should we go via??

Apologies if this has been posted before, I did do a search and couldn%26#39;t find anything similar :)

We are planning a massive summer trip, which begins when we return to London in late June (we currently live in London, but are holidaying to Australia %26amp; Thailand for May/June, then returning to London to start our European Adventures).

We have 5 full days from landing in London (heathrow, Monday 7am) to when we need to be in Split for a %26#39;Sail Croatia%26#39; departure (Saturday, 11am).

We are only flying Bankok to London, so hoping jetlag won%26#39;t be as severe as an Australia to London leg. Even so, we will need 2 days in London to swap luggage, wash repack and recover from whatever jetlag we have!

So....we anticipate leaving London on the Wednesday morning sometime, but where should we go! Was thinking about flying into Zagreb, then making our way down to Split in two days (any thoughts??)

Or should we just go straight to split, and then have 3 full days there before our tour? (Wed/Thurs/Fri)

We are then sailing a %26#39;one way sail%26#39; Split to Dubrovnik, and have 6 days to get from Dubrovnik to Istanbul. We originally thought overland across Montenegro, Serbia, Bulgaria etc, but were also wondering if there were other possibilities that we should think about.

We head to Greece after Turkey, so don%26#39;t really want to head down there just yet....although northern Greece is a possibility......

Hope this makes sense, it is a massive trip and we are very excited!

London Stanstead to Zadar with Ryanair may suit you best and early booking will get you better prices.

Another option is to fly Croatia Air to Zagreb and take the train to Split. Several fast trains run day and night, and the route takes you through Bosnia-Hercegovina.

As for your route to Istanbul, I highly recommend driving if you can arrange for a car via Montenegro-Macedonia-Bulgaria-Turkey. Mind the traffic in Sofia!
