Would like to drive from Venice, Italy to Dubrovnik in one day. How long might this take, with only necessary stops. Trip will be at the end of September, %26#39;08...not sure how much of the new motorway in Croatia will be done then.

It will take around 10-12 hours depending on the weather and the time you actually are going thru the Venice area. Venice area seems always to be in a bottleneck with lots of semi trucks and very slow!
I just drove from Assisi to Split - the autostrada in Croatia was great and I believe it is all the way thru to Dubrovnik.
