car rental

I am planning a trip to croatia in early june for two weeks. from what I read on the forum I can fly into dubrovnik and fly out of zagreb. I can base in dubrovnik, split and zagreb and make day trips from these cities. My question is is a rental car necessary or desirable considering the expenses and the hassle of getting lost etc. would day tours or public transportation be adequate to take the place of a rental car. any advice is greatly appreciated

If you enjoy a drink be warned as its zero alcohol.... but you have a great bus system and we went thru Europe for the first time ever without hiring a car. For 10 weeks we jumped on and off trains and buses..... sometimes just getting a scooter to do local buzz abouts.

Do not need a car in Croatia unless you plan to not book accom and want to stop in wayward places..... plenty to keep you occupied.

get a car with GPS and you will never get lost. Cars range from very affordable Fiat Punto to very luxurious SUVs . Gettig a car is well worth it! You will thank me after you get from Dubrovnik to Makarska.
