We are a family of four with two 8 year olds looking for a family holiday in Croatia where we will be either near a lake or the sea and have access to activities. We are also keen on a little rustic culture! We are looking for a hotel / apartment where we are likely to meet other families. Thompsons super family style hotels would be our %26#39;nightmare%26#39;. In the past we have been on Mark Warner Neilson Beach plus and Lykia World type holidays. This year we are seeking the same but on a tighter budget. Any suggestions

Look up something on Brac or Vis. It also depends on time of the year you are here. I assume we are talking about summer time. There are families everywhere and there are few strictly family oriented places. Maybe Biograd would be a good choice but please note that it tends to get crowded (like everywhere on the coast).
Island of Vis would be my first choice and especially the town of Vis. If going there, make sure you explore the island. Look up agency Navigator in Vis for additional info.

Would also suggest Brac (Bol). Primosten is another area that always has families there.
