My husband and I intend to visit Croatia in September but I can%26#39;t make my mind up between Dubrovnik or Makarska. We don%26#39;t like sitting around on the beach but enjoy walking and exploring the surrounding areas. We also intend to hire a car. Can anyone advise please.

whilst Makarska is a pleasant place and a good base from which to explore some of the best of Croatia, there really is no contest. Dubrovnik is a must.
You don%26#39;t say for how long you are going and if anything more than 5 days, doing both is a real possiblity.

With the choice of those two, there is no doubt that my choice would be Dubrovnik! So much more charm there!

Thanks very much for your replies. Will try and book somewhere in Dubrovnik!

If you stay in the Dubrovnik area make sure you get somewhere with ample parking space if you intend to hire a car. Parking space is very limited.
