Wasps!

Ok this is going to sound a little odd perhaps, but my husband has a pretty bad wasp phobia.

Does anyone know if we are likely to encounter a lot of them in Dubrovnik late April/early May?

You will see some,maybe, but I do not understand the reason for your question. Will a positive answer change the plan of your journey? or do you believe that there are any waspfree areas on the Mediterian?

Thanks for your reply. I would have thought the reason for my question is quite obvious. My husband has a wasp phobia. If you tell me the area is likely to be swarming then we won%26#39;t go there!

The only place that I have seen wasps is at the outdoor fruit markets. They were all over the place, so stay away from the fruit markets and you will be fine!

Yes, Mr Barry is right, but late Apr/early May, you will have to look for them if wanting to see them. Only if it will be very hot and dry,they would gather near any water(not the sea)or damp places.

My husband doesn%26#39;t have a phobia to wasps but is allergic to them. If stung by one he has 20 mins. to get treatment otherwise its fatal - has to carry a syringe with adrenalyn. However after 30 years in Croatia we have so far managed to avoid this situation and it hasn%26#39;t put us off. In the summer you will find wasps whenever eating or drinking outside and at times we%26#39;ve even seen hornets, but I would imagine that April/May you shouldn%26#39;t have a problem at all. As already stated keep away from the fruit stalls in the markets.
