What are advantages / disadvantages (if any) of travel to Dubrovnik and perhaps to one or two of the islands in early Sept? weather? crowds? prices? sights open or closed? Availability? Ferry schedules?
When does %26quot;High Season%26quot; end? We will be traveling throughout the month - so is beginning or end of Sept preferable?
Thanks ahead for any insight!

September is an ideal time to visit as the weather is generally good and the sea is usually warm for swimming. July %26amp; August are the peak holiday months, September is not as busy and there is less crowds.
High season usually starts in May and ends in October. Will have a better chance of good weather at the start of September but you really can%26#39;t tell. October could be just as good.
Have a look at Weather Underground website for the historical weather.
I have just booked my holiday to Croatia, visiting early September, may see you there! Have a good time.

Thanks for your quick reply WelshTraveler!
That%26#39;s the first decision made - now on to the rest! I%26#39;m looking forward to this trip. Enjoy yours as well!

Lucky you! I LOVE Croatia. My husband and I prefer the end of September into October for a few reasons - slightly cooler weather (although when we were there in October 2006 it was HOT - we wore our summer jackets just a few hours in three weeks!); grape (and other) harvest season; and white truffle season. Croatian white truffles are the best in the world and if you are a foodie that will excite you. So far we have always been able to swim in Croatia that time of the year as well.
The only issue we found was finding a B%26amp;B on one of the islands (but it is a less popular island - Umag). All other islands are fine.

Thanx Chefathome
Yes - we are foodies! I%26#39;m actually in the foodservice biz - and return from vacations with way too many photos of food!! Best white truffles in the world - WOW!
This is great news! I am feeling better and better about having to change our original summer plans to the fall.
I see you have many posts re: Croatia - I will go through them all! This is our first trip there (not counting 30+ years ago when it was still Yugoslavia)
Thanks!

Cool- a fellow foodie! I%26#39;m a chef (although I just teach cooking classes - do not work in a restaurant) so food (and travel) is my life. We went to an all truffles restaurant in Istria - fabulous food.
I%26#39;m sure you will have a wonderful time!
