We are planning a couple week trip, starting in Budapest, then driving into both Slovenia and Croatia. Does anyone know if you can cross the borders easily (and will rental car companies let you take the car into a different country than where you rented it)?

Be sure to ask your rental company if they allow you to take the car out of a country. You wll probably pay some additional insurance, but without such papers you might meet problems crossing the border.
