Is Dubrovnik a must see for a Croatian trip?

Hi,

I am planning on 3 nights in Rovinj to explore Rovinj and Istria, but am also considering taking an overnight boat trip from Rijeka to Dubrovnik for 2 additional nights in Dubrovnik. Is this a good plan for a 6 day trip through Croatia? Is Dubrovnik a must see for a first Croatian trip? Thank you for your opinions.

Dubrovnik is a beautiful city and ideally it would be best to include in a first visit to Croatia.

However with only 6 days I would not recommend combining it with Istria. I think you need to decide between Istria or Dubrovnik/Dalamatia.

I am sure if you post in the Istria forum you will get plenty of suggestions on planning a 5 night night stay there.

Agreed that in such a short trip that it would be hard to combine both Istria and Dalmatia. I might be a bit biased, but I have always felt that going to Dubrovnik is a must!
