Planning to take advantage of cheap flights to Split next September for 7 days. Can anyone tell me is Trogir a good base for the 7 days?

Depends on where you want to go. If you want to get to different places in that area it is a good place. You could get to Split, Brac, Hvar, Zadar, Krka, Sibenik, Mostar and other places from here without too many problems. What areas were you interested in seeing?

Thanks for your reply. We have an open mind about what we want to see but enjoy nice scenery, boat trips and dining out. I would be interested to see Dubrovnik but it looks difficult from the Trogir area for a day trip although we will hire a car for all or part of the stay so would you say its possible?. The national parcs look good too.

Dubrovnik might be a bit too far, but to me it would be worth the drive. I would say it would be a four and a half hour drive and maybe more depending on traffic from Split to Dubrovnik.

We used Trogir as a %26quot;base%26quot; as well. I prefer it over split. We also drove Trogir to Dubrovnik, and it is a nice drive. I think Dubrovnik is well worth a visit, but I don´t think you can do that in one day.

Why not split your time between Split and Dubrovnik. The bus takes about 5 hours if you don%26#39;t fancy the drive.
You maybe able to get cheap flights into Split and out of Dubrovnik (or vice versa). We did this last year with BA although there is no reason why cannot fly with 2 different airlines.

Trogir is a great place to stay. I would use a car to drive north, to the national parks etc. but if going south (towards Split then Dubrovnik) I would use the buses. Much less stressful.
