Hi Mick

Depdends if your driving or travelling by bus. If your driving yourself you can use the freeway which is a longer distance than the coastal road but only takes about 4.5hrs or so.

If you are taking a bus, I think it would take about 6 hours or so. You may need to change in Rijeka if you are taking a bus from Zadar to Pula. It is quiet a long trip because it is mountainous and windy, particularly between Pula and Rijeka. The total distance along the coast road is 312km - The distance from Pula to Rijeka is only 84km but takes a long time. The distance from Rijeka to Zadar is 228km.

I%26#39;m not sure if Ryan Air still flies to Trieste in Italy but that might be another alternative. It only takes about 3.5hrs by bus (about 120km). It is much quicker by car - 2.5hrs maybe%26gt;

If you wanted to break up your journey a bit, you could consider a stopover in Opatija near Rijeka.

There is a boat line going Zadar-Pula, check web site :

You could go Dublin to Venice and the bus to Pula or train to Trieste and bus onwards. There is also a lovely option of the ferry which is faster.

Mick: Can you fly Dublin-Venice? If so Bosmere Travel arranges catamaran journeys from Venice to Pula which takes very little time. I think 2007 prices were around 88 Euros per person + taxes. I%26#39;m not sure if 2008 timetables have yet been arranged but if you contact Bosmere I%26#39;m sure they can give you information. You can find them at bosmeretravel.co.uk/

The only other quickest way is from Trieste and hire a car to Pula but it can be expensive taking a car into another country but other people have done it and you may get some information from looking over past threads. I know a car hire person in Pula that we have used and he will meet you at Trieste airport and take you to Pula but it costs around £80. Hope this is of some help and you manage to get something together. Ryanair%26#39;s withdrawal from Pula is a great bore, but friends in Pula tell me there%26#39;s another no frills flight company already negotiating flying into Pula from the UK but I don%26#39;t know if that will include Dublin.

Just out of interest, which campsite have you booked into.

I forgot to say you can get a bus from Trieste Airport into the centre of Trieste (it%26#39;s quite a way away) and then pick up a bus from Trieste to Pula. Of course if you%26#39;re travelling with a lot of luggage for camping this might not be practical.

I have heard that Ryanair will continue to fly to Pula at the end of the March.

They have stopped flying to Zadar same month as they stopped flying to Pula so there is no chance to come to Zadar with Ryanair.

The best thing to do is to check more often Ryanair web page.

We expect them to start flying to Pula again at the end of the Winter.

I want to visit Dublin too!

Ryanair and Easyjet do not yet have their summer (seasonal)timetable for 2008 yet to book - suggest you try again in a few weeks - no doubt Pula will be on there as it is a popular flight.

Have a good trip !

Summer timetable is out for Pula and shows Ryanair Stansted to Pula but not Dublin. Depending on the ferries you might be able to get a ferry from Zadar to Pula but I have not checked the times as I have not seen them for 2008 but it is line 9141 that you would need. It takes 4 hours 45 minutes and is operated by SplitTours, tickets also from MiaTours in Zadar. To go by road it is a long drive and certainly not as relaxing as the ferry.

I think your best bet could be flying Ryanair to Venice/Treviso. Hence take a city bus to the Treviso train station ans a train from there to Trieste.

There is a daily bus from Trieste at 2 PM, and if - if - the flight from Dublin maintains the same schedule as it has now i.e. arriving at 9.40 you ought to make it.
