Getting from Trieste to Porec...

I will be flying into Trieste and plan to go straight to Porec staying 3 days and then travel up to Ljubljana.

My questions are, will I need/have to rent car the entire time?

Can one get from the Trieste airport to Porec via taxi or bus? Any idea of the cost?

Is taking the bus a good way to travel while in Istria?

I%26#39;d hate to rent a car for the whole duration of my trip and leave it sitting unused! If anyone can offer some advice it would be eagerly accepted! :)

transfer trieste poreč costs 120 euro, poreč ljubljana 180 euro, there are a lot of organized exursions so you dont need a car

Istria is amazing! But the decision of renting a car is solely up to you depending on wether you are interested in seeing small hilltop towns, wineries, arena of Pula... Perfectly safe, Istria is a great country to discover on your own!

My advice would be to rent a car and travel arround but if none of the above ineterests you, then Poreč alone (with some trips to Rovinj or Pula) will do.

Thanks for all of your answers! I have returned from my trip and had a wonderful time!!! I rented a car for the whole trip and drove from the Trieste airport to Porec (about 3 hours) then from Porec to Ljubljana (2 1/4 hours) and from Ljubljana to Trieste (city 2 hours airport 2 3/4 hours). All of the roads are modern moterways and pretty easy to navigate. The country side is very beautiful! I would do the trip again in a heartbeat. I will definatly go back and spend more time in both Croatia and Slovenia!

Hello, can you tell me which car rental agency you used? We are going to Croatia via Italy in May and have heard you cannot drive into Croatia in a rental car. That would be our preference... to rent a car in Trieste for the duration, and drop it either there, or in Venice. Thank you!

I had a car like that and I sold it. It shouldnt have taken you 3 hrs from trieste airport to porec. delighted that you enjoyed your holiday.
