I am looking at taking a long weekend trip to Croatia. I am currently living in florence. Any recommendations for a cheap route there?? I have heard there is a ferry from Venice?

Via Venice if you are after North Adriatic/Istria.
Through Ancona if you want to go Central/South.
Ravenna used to have a speedboat line to the (nice) island of Rab.
