Dubrovnik Walls

I was wondering if any of you could help me find out the directions on how to get to the small restaurant where you can also swim right outside of the walls of Dubrovnik. The last time I was there, I saw people swimming off this spot and just thought that it was their private place....I have concluded that this is not the case...can anyone help me? I would appreciate it.

Have any of you stayed at the Dubrovnik B%26amp;B? The one outside the Ploce Gate? We are thinking of staying there next summer rather than on Lapad. Hvala-Hvala!

I wrote this information for a friend, here Ill cut and paste it:

Buza must must must! I cannot explain to you how to get here without getting lost. It is on the outskirts of the walls facing Italy. Best way to get there is to go behind st. blaise and keep walking past hemingway, past cathedral, pick a little side street and walk towards the wall towards the sea and italy and when you hit the wall keep walking along it until you reach a door. There is a sign saying COLD DRINKS, thats where you want to go, believe me. Go during the day so you see where it is, and then go at night. There is usually a lot of people, including lots of tourists, backpackers, and young people both day and night. You can also go swimming here (flattened boulders, not beach).

Im pretty sure that this is the place youre talking about, although I was not aware that it was a restaurant... I have never seen food served there. Let me know if youre talking about some other place...

Thanks, Marzbarz! That was the place I was talking about and I appreciate the directions. When I go next summer, I%26#39;ll be sure to go there. Actually, when I was in Croatia in 2003, my brothers made it there without me, but it was late at night. A restaurant owner named Dina (Prijeko restaurant) showed them, but they could not remember how they ended up there.

You are definitely an asset to this website, Marzbarz! I enjoy reading all that you have done for everyone. I must say, I feel like I get an education every time you answer a question! My dad is taking his 10th trip there this summer and I can%26#39;t wait to go back for my 4th. I don%26#39;t know if you are comfortable with it or not, but I did find you on virtual tourist and emailed you once there to see if you were going to be working on a page from the pics from all of your time over there. I was wondering if that was a place I could email you questions directly. Even though it seems as though you are never logged out of here!!!! I have a pretty undeveloped site there with a few pics...just have not gotten around to it since I was home from my 2003 pics. I need to get more of that done.

Sorry for rambling and thanks for the help!!!

Have a great trip! Wish I was going next Wednesday with my father!

Bok!

Hi

Yes we were there in June. It is a Cold Drinks Bar NOT a Restaurant, but very nice to find and it has nice views over to the island of Locrum and steep winding steps down to a swimming platform.

I cannot explain exactly how to get to it but from the Stadrun (main street) walking towards the harbour and Church of St Blaises it is definitely on your right hand side and nearer to the harbour end of town than it is to the Pile Gate. You wind your way up steps through houses trying to keep near to the City wall and then follow the little wooden signs for Cold Drinks (very enticing in the 36 degree heat we had!) and then pop out through the wall to the place.

Perhaps if you are intending on walking the City Walls in any case you may wish to do this beforehand and you may see it from there and work out how to reach it?

Hi, you say you were there in June - was it terribly crowded? Can%26#39;t wait till this June...

Dubrovnik is an all-year round city. I visited in October and there were cruise ships coming in, people staying in smart hotels and back-packers. It is the one place that the British Airways fly to all year round - in fact it is now the only place in Croatia that BA flies to which shows that the flights are well-used (Split was cut from teh schedule at the end of October 2007). Expect it to be busy.
