Hi we are going to Dubrovnik in August for 12 days, we have 2 kids 4 and 6yrs old, we are after somewhere buzzy with great food, cafe%26#39;s/bars to watch the world go by and nice beaches for the kids to swim and snorkel. I know it%26#39;s going to be really busy but we were thinking of the Makarska riviera for 5 nights with a day trip to brac or maybe stay a night there then on to korcula to stay with friends for 5 nights then onto dubrovnik for a couple of days before going home.
Can you help advice me on the following:
where to stay along the Makarska riviera or would you suggest somewhere else.
would you say stay over in brac or hvar which one is easier to get to as we have the kids and don%26#39;t mind some travelling but not too much.
Where to stay accomodation wise in Makarska, brac, dubrovnik (need a pool ideally and near to beach and restaurants)
Any must see%26#39;s or do%26#39;s?
Thank you in advance for sorting out my itinerary for i%26#39;m sure a wonderful 1st glance at croatia

I think the Makarska Riviera is a great choice. We stayed in Tucepi and it was really really busy. We stayed at the Hotel Alga and it was really nice. They had a couple of pools and the beaches were out front. I would say that you should take a day trip to Bol on Brac if at all possible. It is a great place to just sit on the beach (Zlatni Rat). I also love the idea of Korcula and if you go there get to Lumbarda beach, a nice shallow place with sand! Have a great trip!

For 12 days with two kids I wouldn%26#39;t plan more than 2 places to stay, other places to be seen via daytrips. There is a problem of booking short stays in August, it is peak of the season, after 20.Aug it i seasier.Take care of the kids on the ferries!

Thanks for your responses I will look into hotel you mentioned I think we will go with Makarska and do day trips, Do you know whether you can get a ferry from brac to korcula or do we have to drive back to dubrovnik?
Thanks

Just pop down the coast to Drvenik and take the ferry from there to Korcula. No need to go to Dubrovnik first. Drvenik is a lovely place and it is only about 30km from Makarska. Check ferry times as they are not very frequent and from memory I think they are seasonal.

Thanks for that I%26#39;ll look into ferry%26#39;s
