HI all
I have heard that a lot of people wait until they get off the ferry to secure private accomm on Hvar? Apparently there are lots of apartment owners waiting and they try to get people into their rooms.
Is it too risky to wait and do this when we are there in the 1st week of August?
I am so tired of continually emailing people and getting either no response or an email to say already booked. So thinking this may be my only option?

Even though August is the busiest time, I think you will be ok if you wait. If not in Hvar town, my guess is that you will find something on the island.

It also depends if you can deal with the hassle factor. There will be people and if you are happy to visit and then reject apartments, then look for another one, and another one, fine. If you have a big pack this can be an annoyance too far I find.
The fact that many of the places seem to be full following your e-mails may also make it even harder work.
Are you going to Hvar town, because that will be very busy and personally I wouldn%26#39;t leave it? Anywhere else on the island and you will almost certainaly get somewhere. I went mid-September in 2006 and stayed in Jelsa which is small but lovely and hadn%26#39;t booked. When I stayed in Hvar town in the winter I did book.
