burning tanker on the way to croatia

did anyone hear this on the news this morning - that a tanker that is on fire, and carrying a load of crude oil is veering towards the croatian coast.

I hope they sort the problem before it reaches the croatian coastline - it will be terrible if it hits.

does anyone know whereabouts it is veering towards in Croatia.

Its still burnin off the coast of Istria, tho the intensity is smaller now. All our forces (boats, waterbomber planes) can do (and are doing) is to try to keep the ship cold as much as possible to prevent deformations (oil leak) and sinking. A special unit from Holland arrived last evening, they will try to board the ship and fight the fire up there.

The main problem at the moment is that sea currents are taking the boat closer to Brijuni National Park archipelago

those pictures are dramatic

looking at the last picture it looks like it is extremely near the coastline

I hope it comes under control soon - what a shame to have an oil spill
