10 days in Croatia, where to arrive and what to do? Help!

Hi, I hope you can help. I will be in Croatia from the 5th - 14th August. We are flying out from Dublin and don%26#39;t know where to arrive (either Zadar or Dubrovnik). We want to do the islands around Dubrovnik but also want to see Zagreb. What is the best place to fly into and given that we have only 10 days what do you suggest we see? Thanks

Fly into Dubrovnik, spend time here and on the nearby islands-- you could get out to Korcula, Mljet or any of the nearer islands to Dubrovnik. You could also take a day trip or two to mainland places like Kotor in Montenegro or Mostar in Herzegovina. Then see if you can fly into Zagreb and stay a night there before flying out to Dublin.

My husband and I spent 14 days in Croatia in June/July 2005. We flew into Zagreb, rented a car and drove to Trogir. We stayed two nights in Trogir and took one day trip to the island of Brac (via car ferry). Then we took the Ferry (with our car) to the island of Hvar and spent a few days there. We took the ferry back to Split and drove to Dubrovnik where we stayed a few nights. We then took a flight from Dubrovnik back to Zagreb to save some time. We really enjoyed driving around and down the coast and our favorite island was Hvar! We were able to rent a boat for a day on Hvar for I think 30 Euros and spent the day visiting coves to swim, etc. There is a ton to see but we did not spend more than 1 full day in Zagreb since we wanted to concentrate on the coast instead.

Do you want to leave from Zagreb? Where do you fly to at the end of your trip? Look at Ryanair to Zadar or Aer Lingus to Dubrovnik (more expensive) keep in mind that they do not fly to these destinations every day.

Thanks for the advice. Although we are not keen on renting a car. I was thinking that we could fly from Dublin to Zagreb, stay 2 nights then fly Croatian airlines to Split and make our way around the islands.

Suggested Itinery:

Zagreb - 2 nights

Split - 1 nights

Hvar - 3 nights (day trip to Brac)

Korcula - 2 nights (day trip to Vis)

Dubrovnik - 2 nights

Why the day trip to Vis from Korcula and not from Hvar... ???? just look at the map

Zagreb - 2 nights

Split - 1 nights

Hvar - 3 nights (day trip to Brac)

Korcula - 2 nights (day trip to Vis)

Dubrovnik - 2 nights
