Trogir or Hvar as a half-day excursion from Split?

My husband and I are going on a cruise in May that stops in Split. I was checking out the shore excursions provided by the cruise line and want to get your opinion. Two that I was looking at are half day trips to either Trogir or Hvar. Hvar looks beautiful, but that trip is twice the cost of the one to Trogir, and for the two of us it would be pretty expensive. We still would be willing to do it if we think it is worth the extra money. What do you think, which would be better? A little background on us... We are looking for a nice, scenic place to relax at an outdoor cafe and maybe just wander the streets. That is the last stop of our cruise so we will probably be %26quot;museumed out%26quot; by then. It looks like both of these excursions are a half day so I think either way we will still have a few hours to explore Diocletian%26#39;s palace in Split.

In your case, I would definitely recommend Trogir.

First because you are %26quot;looking for a nice, scenic place to relax at an outdoor cafe and maybe just wander the streets%26quot;, Trogir is perfect for that !

Second, because a half day trip to Hvar from Split means you spend half the half day trip traveling to Hvar, unless they have a very speed boat... and I think you will have spent plenty of time sailing...

Good point, we will probably be sick of being on a boat by then! I have another question for you. If we go to Trogir, is that something we can do on our own easily enough, or do you think we need to take the shore excursion provided by the cruiseline?

If you think you don%26#39;t need to listen to a guide explaining you the amazing history of Trogir and just want to go and relax there, seat on a café terrace and watch the tourist groups pass by, you can do it very easily by yourself.

I think that the taxi drive from Split harbor to Trogir is between 40 and 50 euros, not sure about that.

Maybe will Morlaque confirm this information.
