Struggling between staying in Dubrobnik or Mline

I have been researching my brains out and really having a tough time deciding where to stay in Dbv. Dbv has the convenience of cafes and all the happenings but the big downside of the crowds and not a fan of staying inside wall towns. Mline seems to be pretty close and has a great apartment but is it to inconvenient to get around withour a car? We are coming from Hvar and Split, so how many nights should we allow in Dbv to see the surroundiing sights inc daytrip to Cavtat?

Thanks,

Agreed that Dubrovnik is better. Don%26#39;t stay inside the walls, get something outside the walls and enjoy the view!
