Dubrovnik to Venice

Hi everyone. What a great thing this forum is!

Four New Zealand adults interested in flying into Dubrovnik from UK. Dubrovnik two nights. Travel to Brac (stay four nights). Then on to Venice.

Any comments regarding traveling time between each of these places?

Reliable rental car companies? Cheap flights?

Would love to fly from Split to Venice - any airline doing that?

I hear Slovinia is like Venice. Should we stay there on the way - or are we best to go straight to Venice?

I look forward to any help or suggestions.

If you are going to have a car then you will have to drive to Makarska and then ferry out to Brac island. If you don%26#39;t have a car then you will probably have to get to Split and then ferry out to Brac from there. Maybe someone else can help you out on how you are going to get from Brac to Venice. I don%26#39;t know if there are any ferries that go from Split into that area. Hopefully someone else can give you advice on that one. Good luck!

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I had previously thought we only had the option of a ferry from Split.

Cheers

Try to look at the following site to see if you are going to be able to take a ferry from somewhere in Croatia to Italy. http://www.jadrolinija.hr/

Good luck. And yes there is definitely a ferry that will take you from Makarska to Sumartin on the island of Brac.

We have had lots of luck with sixt for rental cars if you are considering that still.

I looked quick on the Jadrolinija site and it looks like ferries go from Split and Zadar to Ancona Italy, but not to Venice. So maybe you can get to Ancona and figure out how to get the rest of the way to Venice.

Thank you everyone - you have been very helpful - much appreciated

I suppose you could always drive from Split to Venice. The viamichelin site says 646 km from Split to Venice. Maybe you could drive to Porec on the Istrian Peninsula and then take a day trip to Venice from there. Just trying to give you some more options. Good luck!

Slovenia is a very pretty country, especially Bled %26amp; Bohinj but being realistic, will not have enough time. Probably best to concentrate on Dubrovnik, Brac %26amp; Venice and return to Slovenia on a separate visit.

Hi,

We are doing a simillar trip at the end of this week but in reverse. We start in Venice, then catch a fast ferry across to Rovinj in Istria (approx 2.5 hrs). We pick up a car in nearby Pula and over 5 days we will take a leisurely drive to Dubrovnik, stopping along the way at Opatija, Plitvice, Zadar and split.

Finally we have 4 days relaxing in Dubrovnik.

It%26#39;s all about personal preference but we love getting a hire car as you have more freedom. Also you find that short flights take just as long by the time you%26#39;ve spent 2 hrs waiting then after trying to reclaim luggage.

Will be happy to give you any info that we have researched for our trip if you like. Just PM me.

How much would car rental be in Croatia?

Is navigation easy?

If I can%26#39;t manage, do you think there will be buses at the following routes?

Dubrovnik-Split

Split-Plitvice-Bled

How do I go from Split to Venice? Do I need to go to Istria and the ferry over? If so how far is Istria from Split.
