Has anyone taken the Croatia cruise by Windstar which goes to several locations in Croatia. Just wondering if the stops are interesting and if anyone would recommend it. Thanks for the help.

I think it stops only in Hvar and Dubrovnik (or at least that%26#39;s where it used to stop in 2006 and this year. The stops are well worth it, though it%26#39;s a shame to miss the rest of the coast ;)

We have just returned from Windsurf%26#39;%26#39;s Rome to Venice cruise which stopped in Dubrovnik and Hvar. The whole trip was absolutely beauiful. The return leg was slightly different with a stop at Korcula instead of Hvar.
Next year they are offering some different itineraries as well.
Venice to Dubrovnik calling at Koper,Pula,Rijeka (cruising Kvarneric ) Zadar,Split and Korcula.
Dubrovnik to Venice calls at Kotor,Ploce,Hvar,Sibenik,Rab and Trieste.
If you have never been on a Windstar cruise I can highly recommend it.
Happy to answer any further questions you may have.

Thanks for getting back with me. I am thinking of the Venice to Dubrovinik cruise next summer. I am interested in learning more about the Windstar cruises. What do you do during the evenings. We have cruised on many other ships and always enjoy the shows. I think they have gambling but wondered if there are any other options.
What type of shore excursions did they offer.? Did you think they did a good job? How was their food?
Any thoughts will help.

Hello again,
Food: This is not a 24hr dining ship.Breakfast is served from 7/7.30 --9 ish (this depends what time ship is docking.Continental breakfast is more flexible. You can eat inside or out.Good range of everything you would wish for breakfast. We loved the fresh fruit selection.
Lunch is buffet style usually taken on deck but also inside seating.Hot and cold selections and grills to order. This is normally 12 ---1.30
Afternoon tea is served between 4 --5 pm
Appetizers are served in the lounge 6.45----7.30 pm
Dinner is 7.30----9.30 in the main restaurant or %26quot;Degrees%26quot; where they have speciality evenings i.e.Indonesian,Steaks and grills and Mediterranean
Food in both restaurants is of a high standard and is usually five courses with perhaps 3 or 4 choices for each course.
You may go into dinner any time within the allotted time an can have a table for two or choose to join others. We had some great dinner companions when we did this.
Entertainment is very low key. Dinner will while away a couple of hours then people either go to one of the bars where there is usually live music of some kind. There is a small casino and blackjack was very popular on our cruise. Some people play chess or cards or catch up with emails. There is a very reasonable libraryfor a ship of this size. You can get dvd%26#39;s to watch in your cabin
and ipods are also available free of charge.
The crew put on a show one evenng which is always popular.
There are normally two champagne receptions during the week and one BBQ.
I believe the excursions are good but some seem qute expensive.
We did our own thing.It%26#39;s easy to walk the walls of Dubrovnik with an audio guide and visit the other attractions in the old town.
We hired a car with driver one day to take us to Mt Etna and we also had a self drive car whilst on Corfu.
They usually have a choice of about three different excursion for ach place.
There is also a shop on board and a spa which does get busy a certain times. They will have special offers for massage/facials.
The pools are small .Theone with the hot tub adjacent tends to be busier. We always managed to find sunbeds ,there are plenty of them around.
If you want a relaxed cruise without having to be dressing up to the nines and are happy to make your own entertainment then you will enjoy this ship.
One more thing ----after dinner go and visit the bridge.It%26#39;s so peaceful there at nightime and they are very pleased to explain all the instruments to you.
Hope this helps.

I am considering the Windstar Dubrovnik to Venice cruise in Aug 2008. I have been on Windstar many times but not in the last 3 years, it was before it was sold and went independent. I have heard mixed reviews on the Croatian coast except for Dubrovnik. I also have been to Venice many times and want to visit other places, any suggestions?
