Travelling by Bus

I am looking to travel a lot of Croatia by bus, would I need to book in advance or can you more or less guarantee to be able to get on a bus without booking??

Bus network is more than good. No guarantees, but you need no booking in advance.

has anyone stayed here?

If it is the place in Seget Vranjica, I have not stayed there but had a quick look around late last year with a view to staying there this year. It is well out of Trogir (about 5km) which can be an advantage if you have a car. Looked clean and tidy and small enough to get personal attention.

Distance from Park hotel to town centre and weather please

My friend and I are hoping to visit Rovinj this June and are currently trying to decide on a hotel, we are thinking of the Park Hotel but in the photos it looks a bit of a trek into town, can anyone tell me how long it should take to walk in from there please? That would also be in silly girly shoes in the evenings, is it doable?

Also what%26#39;s the weather usually like at the beginning of June, warm enough for sitting by the pool or not? Would it be worth us hanging on till the middle or end of June to ensure better weather?

Hi, Ive stayed at the Hotel Park at the end of Sept and everyone was swimming in the sea, so i would expect the June weather to be really nice too. The walk into town only took me 10mins and is not far away at all, althou i wasnt wearing high heels (male).

zadar to split coastal road

Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to drive from Zadar airport to Split using the coastal road without stopping?

Take the coastal road if it fits into your time schedule. It is such a beautiful drive along the coast and though taking the Autocesta saves a lot of time, there sure isn%26#39;t much to look at!

Thank you iczadar. However,for the 2 to 2 1/2 hours, what speed are you travelling? We hope to travel at a relaxed speed (70/80 kmph) and stay in Trogir. I have estimated that it will take 3 to 4 hours.

Any guidelines?

yes, let%26#39;s say 3 hours at 70/80 kmph, make a stop in Primosten and relax on a terrace !

Hi,

If your break is before May 31st would you let us know where you stopped en route and what it was like. We are planning a similar trip May 31st but I suppose you are pro travelling after that date as we are quite early in the hol season.

We are travelling on May 10th. We will stay in Trogir ( a lovely little town) that night before moving on to spend a week in Hvar Town (and from there take daily trips to Korcula and Krka National Park. We have stayed on Hvar before and it is very relaxing. So, on the trip from Zadar to Trogir we may take a short break and, yes, I will let you know what it was like. However, please remind me after May 19th.

Best travel route/method

Hi, I%26#39;m interested in travelling from Zurich to Dubrovnik probably in late January 2009. Any advice on the best route/method? It seems there are no trains to Dubrovnik? I don%26#39;t mind going to a port in Italy and taking a ferry particularly if there is an overnight ferry on which I could get a stateroom. Thanks in advance!

Go to Bari in Italy and from there take an overnight ferry to Dubrovnik (company is Jadrolinija).

I say look around for a cheap flight right into Dubrovnik rather than trying to get to Bari and then doing the long ferry ride.

It might be hard to find a flight from one of those cities on the day you want to go. Do you have a specific day in mind? It might be worth taking an hour or two train ride someplace and fly from there. Flights in and out of Dubrovnik can be found for cheap, but the cities and days are limited. We did it last year from Paris to Dubrovnik, but I checked a ton of budget airlines. I don%26#39;t have time today but Monday I%26#39;ll go through my bookmarks and see if I can%26#39;t find some good routes that might work and point you to the sites I used. Europe by air is a good alternative as well...99$ legs and it will check different cites for you.

You could also look into flying into another airport like Split or Zadar and bus down to Dubrovnik. See if you can find something a bit cheaper.

Clickair out of Barcelona has really cheap flights to Dubrovnik and, I believe Zurich. I always go to skyscanner.net for discount airfare/route comparisons.

I am doing a 2-week italian rail and drive tour, then taking the ferry from Bari to Dubrovnik, and then flying to Barcelona for 45 dollars (US) in June!

Look into it. The ferry might not be running in January, BTW.

Dubrovnik & teenagers?

Thinking of Dubrovnik for holiday with our 16 yr old son %26amp; girlfriend. will there be enough to keep them occupied?

I would think so! There are plenty of water activities and at night the Old Town is crawling with young people.

Dubrovnik is offering fun for all groups, but more for serius people during the evning. During the day is excelent.

But I am sure that they can find something.

weather in Croatia

Am considering a 2 weektrip to Croatia sometime during the November to February period. What kind of weather can I expect during that time ? What would be recommended, during that period for a 2 week stay ? Are there any Christmans Fairs in the area? Vic S.

Hard to tell, the weather around here is really changing, and is unpredictable.

December, January, February are the coldest months, in Zagreb and inlands it often means frost, cold, grey skies, temp -5 to +5; but last two winters were mild and it could a new trend.

Coast is sunnier and warmer, but bring your warm clothes along too (some cold winds there). November is not that cold usually, more like late autumn type of weather. Zagreb average is 6 degrees, coast 14.

There are Christmas markets, the largest one is in Zagreb, lasts through December.
